Born July 29, 1914, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Frances Beatrice (Moore) Hoffer was the daughter of Frank and Beatrice (Sanborn) Moore.  She grew up in Aberdeen where she graduated from high school and attended Northern State College for two years.

Survivors include her daughter, Elinor (Ron) Hobbs of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Kevin Hobbs of Johnston, and Julie (Steven Rouse) Hobbs of Lexington, KY; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Max, and Rebecca Frances; a niece, Joy (Berj) Moore of California; and a nephew, Gene (Joanne) Moore of Arizona.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 2002; her parents; and two brothers, Ralph Moore and Raymond Moore.

A memorial  fund has been established in Frances' name.

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Frances and her family.

“Elinor and family,

I just heard of Frances' death yesterday and am so sorry for your loss. I am one of many caregivers from Home Instead that cared for your mom. I have been on medical leave and had not seen her since May. She was such a joy to care for and will be so greatly missed. She got around pretty good for a woman of 102 years. She always made me smile.

May God comfort you all during this time. May her memories carry you through until we meet again.

“So sorry to hear about your mom. I planned to attend the visitation but the weather and roads here were too bad. I'm thinking and praying for you all.”

“Elinor...one of Ellie & my reunion highlights was visiting your Mom in her very familiar home. She was a kind, pretty Mom who loved you with all her heart. You will miss her for the rest of your life. Confession time: I still talk to my Mom on occasion. Somehow I know she is listening. I swear at one point she was directing all the feral cats to my barn! I finally told her to stop it & no more came to be fed!
My point is...our loved ones are still around us...even though their physical body is no longer. I'm so sorry for your loss & yet so happy she lived such a long wonderful life. She will be missed by many. God Bless! ”
