“I was a casual friend of Bob's back in 1978. We went to the same church. But his spirit and humor have stuck with me over the years. I feel compelled to share my most vivid memory of Bob. It was one Sunday night at church after youth group ( I was a student at ISU), and 3 or 4 of us were gathered around listening to him tell us about this car he had just bought. I think it was a Chevy sedan. Anyway it was used and apparently the brakes didn't work very well. He said as he was driving it down Welch Ave to Lincoln Way, his brakes gave out. The light turned red and he couldn't stop. I'll always remember Bob saying, "well there wasn't much I could do, so I just raised my hands and said thank you Jesus, I got no brakes". He went on to say, "and you know, I just sailed right through and glided to a stop on the other side!" We all laughed. It was classic Bob at the time. And I still smile when I think of this. It reminds me of how God takes care of us.”

“Bob was a good friend and brother in the Lord. I feel blessed to have lived with him in community for many years. He was a good friend and witness to many. He befriended my great uncle who became a follower of Jesus at 82 years old, and Bob helped disciple him for the next 11 years of his life. He and Connie were wonderful members in our church / community for years, and if you knew Bob, things just got livelier up in heaven with his arrival.”
