Bonnie Haines, age 82, of Nevada, died Monday, April 17, 2017, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with burial to follow in Hillside Cemetery in State Center.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday. 

Born June 2, 1934, in Marshalltown, Iowa, Bonnie Lou (Tribby) Haines was the daughter of Junnice and Mary “Bernice” (Skinner) Tribby.  She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1954, then attended nurses training in Marshalltown.  Bonnie worked as a registered nurse, mostly for Story County Hospital in Nevada, and also in Union and Marshalltown.

In June of 1962, she married Wallace Haines at St. John’s Lutheran Church in State Center.  The couple made their home in State Center and wintered in Texas for many years.  In the late 1970’s, they moved to Mission, Texas.  Bonnie returned to Iowa in 2003.  Bonnie was a very social lady who loved people and never met a stranger.  She enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo, and following professional basketball.

Survivors include three sisters including her twin, Betty Vieman of Hiawatha, Dorothy (Charles) Palmateer of Ames, and Carolyn Workman of Ankeny; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1990; her parents; a brother, Earl Tribby; a sister, Judy Cooper; a nephew, Doug Vieman; and three brothers-in-law, Lowell Vieman, David Cooper, and Gus Workman.
