Donald Cochran, age 85, of Nevada, died at his home on Thursday, April 20, 2017.
Per his wishes, Donald was cremated and no services will be held. Burial of his cremains will be in Evergreen Memory Gardens, rural Nevada, at a later date.
Born June 3, 1931, in Appanoose County, Iowa, Donald James Cochran was the son of Floyd and Alta May (Garrison) Cochran. Don graduated from Garwin High School in 1948, and served from 1951-53 in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
In 1956, he was united in marriage to Betty Lucille Johnson. The couple farmed southeast of Nevada for many years. Don retired in 2015.
He is survived by three children, Sandra (John) Fitzgerald, Steven Cochran, and Scott (Kim) Cochran, all of Nevada; two grandsons, Ryan Fitzgerald and Jeff Fitzgerald and fiancee Elyse Erickson; a step-granddaughter, Misty Handsaker; and two step-great-grandchildren, Sydney Handsaker and Aiden Dutcher. Other survivors include a brother, Keith Cochran of Tama; two sisters, Helen (Elmer) Fehrle of Cedar Rapids, and Ruth (Lee) Moffet of Eddyville; as well as other extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and his parents.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Donald and his family.
