A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada, with Fr. Rick Dagit officiating. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Nevada. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time.
Alma Marie Heintz, daughter of Lawrence and Anna (Elsner) Wirth, was born May 13, 1934, in Gilbert, Iowa. She grew up in the Gilbert area and graduated from Gilbert High School in 1952. Following graduation she worked in the Fareway bakery in Ames. On February 20, 1960, Alma was united in marriage to Don Heintz at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Gilbert. They lived on the Heintz family farm near Cambridge, Iowa, and were blessed with four children.
Alma was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada. She loved being a farmer’s wife and mother as family was very important to her. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren. She would have loved all her great-grandchildren had it not been for Alzheimer’s, which deprived her of that joy.
Alma moved to the Madrid Home in August of 2007, and later to the Manning Plaza in September, 2013. She enjoyed playing cards, embroidery, jigsaw puzzles, gardening, crafts, and attending garage sales, auctions and flea markets in search of a unique salt and pepper shaker to add to her collection.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don in 2012; her parents; two sisters, Rita Bielefeldt and Marie Swenson; and a brother, Leonard Wirth.
Survivors include her children, Dennis (Kimberley) Heintz of Cambridge, Cindy (Scott) Renze of Manning, Ann (Ed) Guild of Audubon, and Rodney (Christine) Heintz of Ames; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Linde, Steven (Erin) Renze, Brad (Nicole) Renze, Ryan Renze, Rebekkah (Lance) Harding, Adam (Shelby) Heintz, Joseph Heintz, and Israel (Brandy) Walker; and 14 great-grandchildren, Olivia, Alexa and Nolan Linde, Garrett, Kael, Max, Zoey and Kason Renze, Kara and Samuel Harding, and Rio, Milo, Atticus and Aleister Walker. She is also survived by her sisters, Dorthy Zeisneiss of Colo, Louise Johnson of Ames, Anna (Derral) Tressler of Story City, and Marlene (James) Michaud of Ames; a brother, Arnold (Joyce) Wirth of Ames; a sister-in-law, Marlene Wirth; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Alma and her family.
