Bonnie J. Evans, age 90, of Nevada and formerly of Collins, died Thursday, December 6, 2018, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2018, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colo, with Fr. Rick Dagit officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Rhodes.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. 

Born March 16, 1928, in Hemingford, NE, to Walter and Bertha (Ditsch) Wiltsey, Bonnie grew up in Rhodes, Iowa, where she attended a one-room country schoolhouse, and graduated from Rhodes High School in 1946.

On September 4, 1946, she was united in marriage to Gerald Charles Evans.  The couple farmed near Collins and was blessed with two children, Elaine and Garry.  After raising her children, Bonnie put her talent for cooking to work and opened BJ’s Parkside Café in Collins.  She also baked specialty cakes, enjoyed crafts of all kinds, and had a special place in her heart for animals.  Bonnie was devoted to her family and will be fondly remembered as ‘Grandma’ to all.

Survivors include two children, Elaine Anderson of Beaver, and Garry Evans of Yucaipa, CA; four grandchildren, Melissia (Dan) Mathews, Mindy (Jeff) Fritz, Kelly (Blake) Sprecher, and Jerry (Taryn) White; seven great-grandchildren; as well as a niece, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979; her parents; a son-in-law, Max Anderson; and a brother, Leon Wiltsey.

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Bonnie and her family.
