Memorial services for Louise Rebers, who passed away on July 14, 2017, in Boone, Iowa, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with Pastor Chris Waddle officiating.  Memorial visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. 

Louise was born on November 12, 1929, in Bowling Green, Ohio.  Her father, Roy Burrell, worked as a mechanic for the State of Ohio and her mother Wanda worked at the Heinz factory in Bowling Green.  Louise had three sisters – Edith Wanda Quay (Vernon), Abigail Dunham (Roy), and Nancy Cowell (Donald).  Nancy is now deceased.

Louise attended Bowling Green State University studying dietetics.  She did her dietetics internship at the University of Minnesota, where she met her husband Paul.  She and Paul were married on December 14, 1952. The blue and silver theme from their wedding reappeared every year on their Christmas tree.

Louise is survived by two sons, Michael Rebers (now living in Sibley IA), and John Rebers (now living in Marquette MI, married to Janice).  A third son, Joseph Rebers, died in 1997. Joe's wife, Sharon Maier, lives in Colorado.  Joe and Sharon had two sons, Kevin Rebers and Kyle Rebers. 

Louise loved to cook, especially for a crowd.  She organized the United Methodist food stand at the Story County 4-H fair for many years, and cooked dinners for the Masonic Lodge.  For years, she hosted a Christmas open house with Scandinavian cookies, fruitcake, and fudge. 

Louise was active in the Order of Eastern Star, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Women’s Circle at the United Methodist Church.  She was also active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, starting as a Den Mother and later providing training to other Scout leaders.

Louise and Paul were active campers, starting with family camping trips to Colorado using a pop-up camper.  Later they changed to a Hi-Lo camper and camped on trips visiting their grandsons in Colorado, their son Mike in northwest Iowa, and their son John in Michigan.  They also went on group camping weekends with other Hi-Lo owners who were part of the Kings and Kweens camping club. 

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Louise and her family.
