“I am very sorry for the passing of Helen. I did not know her well at all, but in mid-December, I had the good fortune to meet her when she was in the hospital. I work for Mary Greeley Medical Center and I am also a beginner guitar player. During the holiday season, I thought it might be nice to bring some Christmas music to the patients at the hospital, and the nursing leadership agreed. So, one December afternoon, I obtained a list of patients who said they would be okay with me stopping in to sing and play and Helen was one of those patients. When I came into her room she was very sweet and told me that Blue Christmas was one of her favorite songs. It just so happened that I had the music for that and it was one that I could play. As soon as I started singing and playing, her foot started tapping along with the music. It brought tears to her eyes because she said that her dad and brother used to play the guitar and sing that song. I played several more songs for her and as I was leaving, I handed her a 3D snowflake that I had made. You would have thought she won the lottery. That little snowflake made her so happy, which made me very happy. I was very sorry to see that she had passed away, but so glad that I had the good fortune to meet her. My deepest condolences to the family.
