Elaine E. Davis, age 87, of Stratford and formerly of Nevada, Iowa, died Thursday, February 15, 2018, at the Stratford Care Center.

Memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2018, at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada.  Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Nevada. 

Born August 26, 1930, in rural Hubbard, Iowa, Elaine Erna Davis was the daughter of Ernest and Edna (Rieks) Brandt.  She grew up in the Hubbard area and graduated from Radcliffe High School. 

On October 26, 1949, Elaine was united in marriage to Edward “Junior” Davis.  The couple made their home in Nevada, where Elaine worked for a time at Donnelley Marketing and later cooked at Story County Hospital for over 20 years.  They were blessed with three children:  Rick, Mary Jo, and Annette.

Elaine was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada.  She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, knitting, and sewing.  She was a wonderful cook and especially loved time spent with her grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Jo (Eric) Manfull of Nevada, and Annette (Brent) Briggs of Collins; five grandchildren, Jason and Chad Pevestorf, and Bryce, Baillie, and McKinzie Briggs; as well as nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Rick; her parents; and three brothers, Merlyn, Glen, and Kenny Brandt.

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Elaine and her family.
