Tina M. Gilligan, age 52, of Ames, Iowa, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, following a courageous six-year battle with ovarian cancer and leukemia.

A Celebration of Life service will be held in Ames at a later date, with burial in St. Marcus Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

Born August 28, 1965, in St. Charles, Missouri, Tina Marie (Linhardt) Gilligan was the daughter of Robert and Maxine (Hayes) Linhardt.  She grew up in the St. Louis area and was united in marriage to Richard Michael “Mike” Gilligan II on October 15, 1988.  The couple was blessed with five children, Megan, Erin, Shannon, Richard Michael III, and Lauren.  Mike died in 2002.  Tina made her home in Ames in 2017 to be closer to family.

Survivors include her five children, Megan Gilligan of Charlestown, IN, and Erin Gilligan, Shannon (James) Brace, Richard Michael Gilligan III, and Lauren Gilligan, all of Ames; a grandson, Solomon Brace; her mother, Maxine Sego of Pensacola, FL; a brother, Robert (Angie) Linhardt of St. Louis, MO; a sister, Nicole (Michael) Lorton of Pensacola, FL; a special sister- and brother-in-law, Donna Gilligan and John Stein of Nevada; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

In addition to her husband, Tina was preceded in death by her father.

Tina will be remembered as a kind, caring, and strong woman with a heart filled with love for her family.  Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.  Tina possessed a serious sweet tooth (for all things chocolate), and also enjoyed reading, watching movies, quilting, and crocheting.

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Tina and her family.
