LaDena Bishop, age 91, of Nevada, Iowa, died Monday, November 25, 2013, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada.
Memorial services were held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013, at Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada, Iowa. Pastor David Burling officiated, with burial at 1:00 p.m. Monday in Ames Municipal Cemetery, Ames, Iowa. The family received friends one hour prior to services Monday at Chet Ryan Mortuary of Nevada.
Born November 6, 1922, in Lushton, Nebraska, LaDena Faye Bishop was the daughter of Victor Hugo and Eva Mae (Berger) Sloniger. She was united in marriage to Robert Bishop in 1944.
LaDena was a member of Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked as Thesis Editor at Iowa State University from 1961-1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Marlu Bishop of New York City, NY, and Corky (Steve) Collis of Ankeny; two grandchildren, Robyn Davis and Michael Collis; four great-grandchildren, Ahren Davis, and Grace, Sarah, and Noah Collis; a brother, Allen Sloniger of Cambridge; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1999; a daughter, Robin Ann in 1957; and two grandsons, Daron Frank in 1993, and Robert Dean Collis in 1973.
Chet Ryan Mortuary of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of LaDena and her family.
