Judy Lowe, age 69, of Nevada, Iowa, died Sunday, December 15, 2013, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.
Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, Iowa. Pastor Myron Herzberg officiated, with burial in Maxwell Cemetery, Maxwell, Iowa. Friends called at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada on Friday from 5-7 p.m.
Born November 25, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Judy Ann Lowe was the daughter of Franklin Earl and Ada Bell (Catlett) Rainbolt, Sr. She moved with her family to Nevada in 1960, graduating from Nevada High School in 1962. Judy worked at various jobs throughout her life, including as secretary at the Story County Courthouse, typist at Iowa State University for the Iowa Crop Improvement Association, and in numerous capacities at Story County Hospital. Most recently, she worked as lead custodian for the Ames Lab at Iowa State University, retiring in 2004.
On November 18, 1995, Judy married A. Wayne Lowe at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Judy will be remembered as a loyal friend who worked hard and enjoyed dancing, crocheting, and playing pool.
Survivors include three siblings, Janet (Marvin) Jacques of Garden City, Frank (Lori) Rainbolt of Cedar Rapids, and David Kemmerer of Des Moines; three nieces, Jennifer Schult, Abigail Jacques, and Tiara Jacques; a nephew, Robert Rainbolt; three great-nephews, Alex Schult, Emmet Schult, and Jackson Rainbolt; as well as other extended family members and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne on October 4, 1997; her parents; and her step-father, Ivan Kemmerer.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada was entrusted with the care of Judy and her family.
