Violet Corbin, age 83, of Fernald, Iowa, died Thursday, January 23, 2014, at her home.
Memorial services were held 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Colo United Methodist Church in Colo, Iowa, with Pastor Lewis S. Flanigan officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Nevada. Friends called at the church on Friday from 5-7 p.m.
Born June 3, 1930, in Putnam County, Missouri, Violet Fern Corbin was the daughter of Victor and Hazel (Corbin) Pauley. She grew up and attended country school in Fernald.
On June 4, 1949, Violet married Ralph Victor Leon Corbin in Milan, Missouri. They made their home in Fernald and were blessed with three children, Nancy, Dwight, and Dennis. Violet worked for Nevada Poultry and later ran the printing press at Donnelley Marketing for nearly 40 years.
Survivors include two sons, Dwight Corbin and Dennis Corbin, both of Fernald; five grandchildren, Joseph Askern and Sandra Askern, both of Tulsa, OK, Jessy Jackson and Joleen Hulsebus, both of Nevada, and Tim Corbin of Ames; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald (Mary) Pauley of LaGrange, GA; three sisters, Virginia Patterson of Bethany, MO, Doris (Earl) Otto of Colo, and Geri Beiderman of Des Moines; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Roger Walton; a daughter-in-law, Lorina Corbin; her parents; an infant brother, Samuel Pauley; and two sisters, Iva Oxley and Shirley Ishmael.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada was entrusted with the care of Violet and her family.
