Aldean Earle Flack, age 85, of Colo, Iowa, died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Story County Medical Center in Nevada, Iowa.
Funeral services were held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the First Christian Church in Nevada, with Pastor Anjeanette Perkins officiating. Burial was in the Colo Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of services, with a luncheon at 12 Noon.
Born January 26, 1929, in Paton, Iowa, Aldean Earle Flack was the son of Dewey and Ruth (Groesbeck) Flack. He was married to Clara Mae Amsden on September 10, 1950, in Lake City, Iowa. The couple moved to Colo in 1960, where they farmed and raised livestock. Aldean then worked as a machinist for Iowa State University until his retirement at age 61.
He loved farming, both crop and livestock, had a passion for woodworking, and enjoyed collecting Ertl toys. Aldean also enjoyed mechanical work on cars and tractors. His goofy sense of humor will long be remembered.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Mae; six children, Steve Flack of Colo, Gary (Mary Lou) Flack of Nevada, Cindy Wismer of Nevada, Evelyn (David) Stokes of Worthington, MO, Tim Flack and special friend Elizabeth Crull of Genoa, IL, and Jill (Joel) Thompson of Marshalltown; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Alfred and Alvin Flack; a son-in-law, Steven Otto; a sister-in-law, Donna Flack; a brother-in-law, Charles Amsden; and a grandson-in-law, Gabe Fleming.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada was entrusted with the care of Aldean and his family.
