Born March 21, 1931, east of Webster City, Iowa, Darlene Grace (Hudson) Ranger was the youngest child of T. Elick and Ellen J. (Schafer) Hudson. She grew up and received her education in Webster City, and graduated from Webster City High School in 1949.
Darlene married Dale Knutson and was blessed with two children, Robert and Debra.
On July 16, 1961, Darlene married C. Romaine Ranger in Webster City and became a mother to Michael. The couple later welcomed a daughter, Dianna, to their blended family and moved into their new home in Nevada.
Darlene’s priority and greatest joy was her family. In the early years she worked on and off at Donnelley Marketing in Nevada and in the late ’60’s accepted employment as secretary to the Nevada High School principal, retiring in 1990. She was a talented seamstress, making clothing for the entire family, and also was an avid reader.
Survivors include her husband, Romaine; three children, Michael (Nancy) Ranger of Rockford, IL, Debra Knutson of Ankeny, and Dianna (Mike Leonard) Ranger of Norwalk; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Knutson, in 1990; her parents; two brothers, Donald and Duane Hudson; and two sisters, Virginia Staples, and E. Jean Johnson.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Darlene and her family.
