Henrietta Belle (Sally) Sutherland, age 100, of Nevada, Iowa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.  She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend.  Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 7, 2014, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with Pastor David Burling officiating.  Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Sunday at the church. 

Henrietta Belle (Chitty) Sutherland was born in Fernald, Iowa, to Henry and Ethel (Cook) Chitty on February 23, 1914.  She married Leo Charles Sutherland on July 4, 1938, at her parents’ home in State Center, Iowa.  She attended the Iowa Beauty School in Des Moines and taught there until becoming a homemaker and mother.  She was a resident of Story and Marshall Counties most of her life.  Sally was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, three bridge groups, and loved to bowl.

Mrs. Sutherland is survived by her daughter, Charlene (Larry) Carsrud of Nevada; two grandchildren, Cherrine (Michael) Bates and Bryan (Tori) Carsrud of Nevada, all of Nevada; four great-grandchildren, Addison Bates, Temperance, Rizalea, and Leonidas Carsrud; four nephews; and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leo in 2000 after 62 years of marriage; her parents; and a sister, Wilma Sutherland.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mrs. Sutherland’s name may be made to the Capital Improvement Fund at Memorial Lutheran Church.
