Lois Mae (French) Olsan, age 86, died Friday, November 2, 2018, in Moline, Illinois, where she had spent the last year and a half of her life.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with Pastor Laura Mahn officiating. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Memorial visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Born October 24, 1932, in Nevada, Iowa, Lois was the daughter of Russell and Iva (Sipling) French. After growing up in Nevada and Maxwell, Iowa, Lois became a long-time resident of West Des Moines where she and her late husband, Wally, made their life together. Lois and Wally married in 1957. She worked for Norwest bank for 40 years, retiring from her position as Vice President of Trust and Investments in 1993. Lois thoroughly enjoyed her service to the bank and the many friends she made there.
Lois will be missed by many long-time neighbors and friends who enjoyed her humor, her generosity, her thoughtfulness and her laughter. Lois loved music, traveling, reading, and any excuse to be with friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wallace Olsan. She is survived by her brother, Lawrence Ray French, a great-nephew, David Evans of Raleigh, NC, a great-niece, Laura Evans Mahn (Jason), and two great, great nephews, Asa and Gabriel Mahn who brought her tremendous joy. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Maxwell High School Music Department.
