Greta Crowley, 95, of Nevada, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at Story County Medical Center in Nevada.
Visitation with the family present will be held 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with funeral services to be held in Osceola, Indiana, at a later date.
Greta Cleo Crowley was born April 11, 1919, in Jefferson, Iowa, to Leo and Nellie (St. Peter) DeWitt. She grew up and received her education in Jefferson.
On February 11, 1942, Greta was united in marriage to Bain Crowley. The couple lived in Montour and Ames, Iowa, before settling in Elkhart, Indiana, in 1965. They were blessed with three children: Pat, Richard, and Sandy. In 2007, Greta moved to Nevada to be near her daughter.
Greta enjoyed crocheting and knitting and over the years made beautiful doilies, afghans, and dishcloths, many as gifts for her family.
Survivors include two children, Pat (Mike) Ellingson of Nevada, and Richard “Rick” (Sheila) Crowley of Niles, MI; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bain in 2002; a daughter, Sandy McClure; a brother, Richard DeWitt; and a sister, Nedra McDonald.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Greta and her family.
