Jack L. Hutchison, age 84, of Nevada died Monday, April 27, 2015, at Bethany Life Communities in Story City.
Memorial visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 15, 2015, at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with burial at a later date.
Born March 24, 1931, in Ames, Iowa, Jack LaMonte Hutchison was the son of Guy and Vera (Sherk) Hutchison. He grew up and received his education in Ames, graduating from Ames High School in 1950. Jack served in the National Guard, and served in the United States Air Force.
On April 9, 1954, he was united in marriage to Patricia E. Carney in Albert Lea, Minnesota. The couple was divorced in 1971.
Jack was employed in the trucking industry for most of his life, retiring as Safety Director from a trucking company in Kansas City.
He married Patricia L. (Brooks) Scheppler in 1982; she preceded him in death in 1991. On August 29, 1992, he remarried Patricia E. (Carney) Hutchison at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Hutchison of Nevada; four step-children, Denise Scheppler of St. Louis, MO, Marie (Bill) Rasso of Kimberling City, MO, Renee (Steve) Winchester of St. Louis, MO, and Tom (Donna) Scheppler of O’Fallon, IL; three step-grandchildren, Brianna, Blake, and Grant; as well as other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Patricia L. Hutchison; his parents; a sister and her husband, Travelle and Wayne Reed; and a half-brother and his wife, Robert and Betty Wallace.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Jack and his family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Jack’s memory has been established.
