Geraldine Melton, age 80, of Nevada, died Monday, May 11, 2015, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with Deacon Brenda Hobson officiating. Memorial visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Private family inurnment will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Born December 12, 1934, in Colo, Iowa, Geraldine Louise Melton was the daughter of Paul and Mabel (Brown) Lunde. She grew up and received her education in Colo.
Geraldine worked at several area businesses over the years, including Scudder’s Clothing Store, Starlight Lounge, and Sports Bowl, and retired after serving many years at State Bank & Trust in Nevada.
Geraldine loved bowling and scouring garage sales.
She is survived by three children, Dennis (Bonnie) Melton of Collins, Deb (Rob) Hardy of Ames, and Darla (Gary) Ingham of Nevada; nine grandchildren, Christopher, Brad, Ashley, Stacie, Crystal, Justin, Jennifer, Tasha, and Tim; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Pete Lunde of Garwin; a sister, Janet (Dan) Geisler of Clive; a brother-in-law, Larry Heintz of Nevada; as well as many extended family members and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, DeAnn Potter; a sister, Lois Heintz; and a sister-in-law, Carol Lunde.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Geraldine and her family.

We always were kicked out of the house when the adults wanted to play cards. So we made our own games and adventures. Memories are what we hold on to at times like this.

“My Sympathy to all of you on your loss of Geri. She was a great friend I have know her for many years. I had worked with her at State Bank and bowled on a couple of leagues with her for many years.
I am so sorry that I will be out of town on Saturday for the memorial services. I will be thinking of all of you at this time. You were very good to her especially in her sickness the past couple of years. She so enjoyed your family get together to honor her for her birthday as a surprise. Blessings to all the family.
