Alice Slaybaugh, age 79, of Nevada, Iowa, died Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018, at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating.  Memorial visitation will begin Thursday one hour prior to services.  Burial will be in Highland Township Cemetery in rural Bayard, Iowa. 

Born July 27, 1939, in Webster City, Iowa, Alice Joann Slaybaugh was the daughter of Ernest Fritz and Rosine (Rossow) Borcherdt.  She was united in marriage to William Keith Slaybaugh on December 23, 1977, in Ames, Iowa.

Alice loved flowers, enjoyed fishing, and was fond of animals, especially cats and dogs.  Her pet cat, Cuddles, held a special place in her heart.

Survivors include a sister, Violet (Virgil) Frye of Boone; a brother, Bill (Pam) Borcherdt of Willmar, MN; several nieces and nephews; and a stepson, Steven Slaybaugh of Nevada.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Carol Phillip Borcherdt; a sister, Virginia Mae Borcherdt; and a stepson, David Slaybaugh.

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Alice and her family.
