Doris McIntire, age 83, of Nevada, died Monday, August 3, 2015, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at the First United Methodist Church in Nevada, with Pastor Chris Waddle officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Iowa Center. Memorial visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada.
Born January 5, 1932, in Story County, Iowa, Doris Mae (Hill) McIntire was the daughter of Albert and Marie (Graham) Hill. She grew up in the Maxwell area, graduating from Maxwell High School in 1950.
Doris served as office administrator for Juvenile Court Services in Nevada, and later in Ames, for 25 years. She retired in 1993.
On March 11, 1951, Doris was united in marriage to Billie Joe McIntire in Nevada. The couple made their home in Nevada and was blessed with four daughters: Rita, Rhonda, Roberta, and Rebecca. Doris was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved people and enjoyed crocheting, playing bridge and 500, dancing, traveling, and being Grandma to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In later years, Doris had fun shopping and having lunch with her girlfriends, as well as weekend trips to visit family.
Survivors include four daughters, Rita (Mark) Myers of Pleasant Hill, Rhonda Goosic of Altoona, Roberta (Carey) Eller of Cedar Falls, and Rebecca (Buddy) Redling of Ellison Bay, WI; nine grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2011; her parents; and a brother, Robert Hill.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Doris and her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Doris’ name may be directed to Israel Family Hospice House, 400 South Dakota Avenue, Ames, IA 50014.
