Jenna Shook, age 86, of Nevada, died Sunday, September 20, 2015, at Story Medical Senior Care in Nevada.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 25, 2015, at Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada, with Pastor David R. Burling officiating. Burial will follow in the Colo Cemetery, Colo, Iowa. Visitation will be held at Ryan Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
Born October 4, 1928, in Seymour, Missouri, Jenna Faye Shook was the daughter of William Thomas and Mary Rebecca (Hannah) Miller. She grew up in the Council Bluffs area and graduated in 1947 from Abraham Lincoln High School.
On September 12, 1948, Jenna was united in marriage to Chester LeeRoy Shook in Council Bluffs. The couple made their home in Nevada since 1979, and also lived in Gilbert, Cambridge, and Ames. Jenna worked at Hach Chemical in Ames for many years, retiring in 1992. In 2013, Jenna moved to Las Vegas to live with her son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Linda, and recently returned to Nevada for a summer visit.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, and watching the Cardinals play baseball.
Survivors include three children, Steve (Linda) Shook of Las Vegas, NV, Bonita (Rex) Handsaker of Colo, and Tamara (Tim) Reed of Zearing; six grandchildren, Heather (Victor) Shook Afable, Joshua C. Shook, Brandon (Allison) Handsaker, Brooke Handsaker, Joel D. (Crystal) Reed, and Amanda Reed; and seven great-grandchildren, Sofia, Olivia, Riley Kate, Brady, Carson, Carlee, and Carter. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Polly Perry of Council Bluffs, and Barbara (Gordon) Frink of Emerson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In addition to her husband Chester, Jenna was preceded in death by her parents.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Jenna and her family.
