Kent Stoeffler, age 67, of Nevada, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Born October 9, 1948, in Ames, Iowa, Arthur Kent Stoeffler was the son of Irwin “Andy” and Ruth (Zook) Stoeffler.  He grew up and received his education in Nevada, then was employed by Pratt Sanitation in Nevada for over 40 years.

Kent loved fishing, word puzzles, watching old western movies, WWF wrestling, and riding his bicycle around town.  He also enjoyed eating out, especially at Starbucks, and will be lovingly remembered for his stubborn and sometimes bull-headed nature.  Kent was a kidder who loved spending time with his family and appreciated the many things they did to help him.

Survivors include two brothers, Ray “Butch” Stoeffler and Jan Stoeffler, both of Nevada; two sisters, Sue (Max) Streeter of State Center, and Becky Johnson of Colo; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gary Stoeffler and Bradley Stoeffler; two sisters-in-law, Donna Stoeffler and Marty Stoeffler; and a brother-in-law, Robert Johnson.

Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Kent and his family.

“To the Family of Kent. I haven't seen many of you for many years, but that doesn't mean I don't think about all of you at time. Remember when we would come Uncle Art's and we would always come over to see all of you. Kent had a hard life but always seemed happy from what I remember. I will see you Mon. as I am coming with Rita. See you all then. Dorothy Weyers

“My sincere sympathies to the entire family of Kent Stoeffler. I knew him from 1946 through 1960 as my "down the street" neighbor. My name at that time was Ruth Betts, and I lived in the next block north of his home. Kent was always an active boy in the neighborhood. The family may remember me as one of the 2 Betts girls that herded sheep on the open property behind the Stoeffler home. I am sure Kent influenced and touched many people in his lifetime, and I am sorry it has come to an end. May God bless you as you mourn his loss. Ruth Betts Seger”

I can't remember ever seeing him without that radiant smile, an amazing wave, and pleasant (usually kidding) conversation! He always brightened my day, and now my memories. God bless him and you, Deborah Cornelius Presler ”
