Ethel Taylor, age 95, of Nevada, died Monday, March 16, 2015, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, with Pastor David R. Burling officiating. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery, Nevada. Memorial visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services.
Born March 9, 1920, in Roland, Iowa, Ethel Marie Taylor was only child of Henry James and Amy (Hanson) Hoversten. She grew up and received her education in Roland, graduating from Roland High School. Ethel then attended Iowa State University.
On December 10, 1943, she was united in marriage to Frederic “Bill” W. Taylor. The couple settled in Nevada and was blessed with two daughters, Kaye and Sue.
Ethel was employed at Nevada National Bank for nearly twenty years, retiring in 1982. She loved to play bridge and was a member of numerous bridge clubs. She was an avid golfer and bowler and also enjoyed traveling. In earlier years, Ethel was an active member of Memorial Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Bill in 1989.
Survivors include two daughters, Kaye Ostrich of Nevada, and Sue (Craig) Ellsworth of Lakota; six grandchildren, Lisa (Chet) Barton of Scottsdale, AZ, Michael (Candice) Ostrich of Carroll, Douglas (Shannon) Ostrich of Cedar Falls, Chad (Melanie) Ellsworth of Johnston, Scott Ellsworth of Lakota, and Justin Ellsworth of Lakota; and eight great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hayden, Jacob, Ryan, and Alicia Ostrich, and Ryan, Owen, and Myles Ellsworth.
Ryan Funeral Home of Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Ethel and her family.
