Born April 25, 1940, in Wadena, Iowa, Karin Sue Sutton was the daughter of William and Marjorie (Jones) Hinton. Karin graduated from high school in Iowa Falls, Iowa, then attended the Gale Airline Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She worked out of the Minneapolis airport for a time, and went on to run many restaurants throughout the years. Karin was married to Harold Neuendorf from 1960 until 1982.
On July 10, 1982, she married Charles F. Sutton in Iowa Falls.
Karin’s favorite pastime was bowling. She made many friends traveling throughout the country during the span of her 52-year bowling career and volunteered countless hours mentoring junior bowling leagues. She was recognized with a Presidential commendation from President Gerald Ford for her efforts and, in 2012, was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. Of all the accolades and awards Karin garnered, however, her greatest satisfaction came as she witnessed her husband bowl a perfect game in Sioux City in 1995.
Karin spent many happy hours camping with her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and will be remembered for her famous chicken and noodles. She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary and became a Gold Star sister after her brother was killed in action during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include her husband, Charles, of Nevada; four children, Lisa (Ardee) Whitaker of Colo, Lori (Rob) Lodestein of Nevada, Lynn (Deana) Neuendorf of Zearing, and Heidy (Todd) Pickles of Nevada; two step-sons, Randy (Terry) Sutton of McCallsburg, and Rodney Sutton of Newton; 17 grandchildren, B.J., Katie, Matthew, Danielle, Anna, Arianne (Jeff), Weston (Madison), MaKaelyn, Shannon, Crystal, Letitia, Cory, Colton, Autumn, Francisco, Gustavo, and Samantha; five great-grandchildren, Tucker, Kennedy, Isaac, Sam, and Georgia; and a sister, Judy (Chuck) Erwin of West Des Moines.
In addition to her first husband, Karin was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William Joseph Hinton.
